INDGANGSVINKEL
Something that we have in common in this house is the American Staffordshire Terrier or better known as the Amstaff.
Well actually it is most the project of Tonny. I never ever had an imagination of owning such breed. But cirkumstances wanted it differently !
Tonny got interested in the breed while he was owning Mastino Napoletanos. He liked the size, look and most of all the temperement in an Amstaff. So in 1994 he bought
his first dog, Tops in Germany. Tops was originally imported from the USA to a german breeder, from whom Tonny bought the dog.
Later on he imported Ch. Somersets Spice from Richard Gray, USA and soon after that other dogs followed. In 1997 Tonny recieved his FCI reg. kennelname DK Staff.
This was also the year where he breed his first litter of Amstaffs.
Tina had her interest in the breed while she was using Peter Bihlet, an Amstaff breeder as well, as her handler for the Basenjis. She needed more help and took contact
to Tonny. So the interest for dogs developed from dogs to the handler and soon we became a couple and today we share our lives including the Amstaffs.
The American Staffordshire Terrier has developed from the Pit Bull Terrier. Since 1936 the 2 breeds has been seperated in 2 kennelclubs. The American Staffordshire Terrier
is in AKC (American Kennel Club), and these dogs can be registrated in the Danish Kennel Club (DKK).
To own an Amstaff is just not buying a dog. It requires many other things than normally. That is as an excample to be an
ambasserdor for the breed and always behave nice,
that is both the dog and the owner. No matter where, how and when. That is the only way we can keep the breed.
If you want to own an Amstaff it is not because you want to brag about having a "fighting dog" or a Pit Bull, it is because you want to have a dog that is completely devoted
to you and youre family. A dog that push you out of bed and a couch. A dog that wags it tail all the time and a dog that looks incredible, when it runs in the fields
or on the beach.
In our house all the breeds are living and walking together and thats how its suppose to be. The Skyes and the Westies can make a lot of noise and trouble. Also the
Basenjis can be a little too alert, but the Amstaffs are more calm and easygoing, and that has a good influence on our other breeds.
We tell people to train agility and fly ball with youre Amstaffs. They are good at it and they love it !
We feed them with an american product and washes them to the shows or when they need it.
